Hispanic Heritage/Latino History Month
Hispanic Heritage/Latino History Month celebrates and honors the history and culture of the Hispanic and Latino/Latina/Latinx communities.
The timing of the month — from September 15 to October 15 — is a significant part of this observation. September 15 was chosen as it coincided with the day Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua declared their independence from Spain. Mexico celebrates on September 16th, Chile on the 18th, and Belize on the 21st.
Join us throughout Hispanic Heritage/Latino History Month for profiles of local leaders and to celebrate the accomplishments of the community. See below for a list of Hispanic and Latino/Latina/Latinx-owned businesses and events.
